MBA in Healthcare Administration & Leadership - Virtual Information Session
OK.
Hello everyone. Thank you so much for joining us today. We'll take just a moment to let everyone get logged in and to get your sound adjusted accordingly before we get started.
Who are so happy to have you all here?
All.
Great. It looks like everybody is in. Hello, good afternoon or whatever time it may be where you are or when you're watching this. My name is Jen Radwanski and I'm the Associate Director for Graduate Admissions here at Stockton University. And I am joined by one of my colleagues who is a faculty member here in our MBA in Healthcare Administration and leadership program at Stockton, one of our newer programs, although it's not too new anymore, which is really exciting. So we have Doctor Ayubuta here to tell you a little bit more about this program, give you an overview and tell you why this would be.
Maybe a good fit for you to come and join us here at Stockton.
Before we dive in, I have a couple of housekeeping items I want to share with you all. If you are watching this virtually, we will give you an opportunity for you to contact us at the very end of the presentation. Our contact information will be there. If you're watching this live, you can use the chat feature located on which should be on the right hand side of your screen. We would ask that any questions you have if you're watching it live to hold off towards the end because more than likely we will cover the questions that you have through the presentation. And then if we don't, we're happy to answer those live at the very, very.
So with that being said, Christian, I am going to turn things over to you.
Thank you, Jennifer, and have a good day for every person in any part of the world you might be.
I am Professor Christian Elbouche, the Director of M How program the word M how we use it here commonly in Stockton University. That stands for MBA in Health Administration and Leadership.
Degree program.
And I am talking from our main campus in Atlantic City.
This is a campus where the Amhar program is actually housed.
And welcome welcome every person to these and virtual and presentation. In my presentation today I'm going to cover some of the essential things that you might be interested in knowing and starting from why a graduate program, why to start in university and the specifics about our in how program. So once again welcome everybody and remember my name is Christian Ehobuchi.
Number one item.
Why choose a graduate program?
All over the.
Job posting recently.
Beyond bachelor's degree program.
And even when they said that a bachelor's degree is required and you're coming in with a graduate degree, that automatically gives you an advantage over other candidates that may have only an undergraduate degree.
Graduate degree may provide tools, resources, and the connections that you may not have otherwise because there's a sharp difference between when you're doing your undergraduate and when you're doing a graduate degree. In that graduate programs, in most cases you are interacting, particularly in the case of certain university you are interacting with.
Your peers are already executives in different disciplines. That might be a good network for you.
To finally land the type of job that you wish to to have on graduation.
I would like to go directly to. Why?
Why do we choose them?
Next slide.
Southern University has.
A unique.
Educational culture.
And when we talk about our MBA, our graduate program here and the mall program.
We have a unique curriculum of 42 credits.
For those of you that might be shopping for schools here and there, you may find out that an average MBA program is 36 credits, but in Stockton we give you a package of 42 credits.
And our program is affordable with very high quality.
When I have open enrollment, that means you can start your program in every any semester.
Precisely. In most cases, fall and spring semesters and then if you choose to start in summer, you're also welcomed.
And faculty involvements starting from advising.
From the time that you are recruited to the time you graduate.
And we have graduate assistantship opportunities.
All our courses are hybrid course delivery system that means.
You have the opportunity to take some of the hours online and some of the hours in person with the faculty in classroom.
And we have the graduate student council. That means you are involved in the governance of your program.
And we have research opportunities.
Which in most cases students are paid directly with a faculty member, and then that gives you an exposure to experiential learning and participation in research.
New graduate scholarships. We have student services. We have a beautiful campus, dining options, free shuttles from the main campus to Atlantic City campus. Or as the case might be.
And like I mentioned earlier.
All our faculty members in the graduate program all have terminal degrees, and most of them are still practicing in their respective disciplines.
Next slide.
Our MBA program in Health Administration and the leadership.
Why this program?
Currently in United States, 23 to 28% of U.S. economy is based on health care or health care related businesses.
American population, like in other countries of the world, is starting to itch.
The pandemic taught the world a lesson of the importance of health and the health leadership and healthcare administration.
The reason even developed countries suffered most during the pandemic is not because of infrastructure. It's not because of clinical knowledge.
But mostly because of managerial acumen.
In.
Harnessing and distributing resources that were needed in order to mitigate the pandemic, and this has resulted.
Into an explosion in demand for our program because we need more managers, we need more administrators, we need more leaders to be able to resourcefully.
Manage our healthcare system.
Unintended consequences of over regulation that is taking place all over the world, starting from World Health Organization.
To peculiar regulations in United States.
Require an in-depth knowledge on how to navigate these regulations and deliver quality healthcare at a minimum cost.
It's becoming a trend all over the world, not just in United States.
Clinicians, or in this case physicians, burnout and the shortage of caregivers.
This is resorting to the greater challenge for hospitals and the institutions that deliver health care.
To hire and retain managers that are capable of providing that inspiration and that management acumen that physicians and the caregivers need in order to keep the doors of the hospitals and the healthcare facilities open.
It's also important issues of the health equality and the health care equity and disparity that is widening all over the world. And that is why, particularly in our program, we have met intentional efforts to include electives and causes like global health in courses like.
Healthcare tourism to make sure that our students or our graduates will come out with enough cultural competence.
That will allow them to manage healthcare businesses from any part of the world that they might find themselves.
And practice info.
Next slide please.
Where do I work?
It's interesting that in most cases when we have candidates applying to our program, they usually say that they hope to work in hospital on graduation. But I want to tell you that hospital opportunities is only 15% of the total opportunities of where our graduates work.
Healthcare includes medical practices. It includes pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies that.
Manage the payments and then manage the care of patients, medical device companies, digital health companies and entrepreneurs and health analytics. And of course the volume of public health sector even in United States, Medicare, Medicare is based on public funding and the public regulations and many other countries of the world have complete universal health care.
Or free health care or public health care system.
Our program, our MBA program prepare our students with the knowledge and skills they need to be able to function effectively in administration of healthcare from any economic perspectives that they might find themselves. Next slide please.
Umm.
This will show you additional list of other opportunities where you might seek for unemployment and where we have our graduates currently working from nursing homes to health departments and medical insurance underwriters, accountable care administrators.
Operation managers in Health Related facilities and Regulatory affairs Managers.
Clinics and you name it to retirement facilities. All these are wide range of opportunities where graduates can seek for employment. Next slide.
When it comes to our MHAR program, which is our MBA in Health Administration and leadership, we have specific goals that form the generic basis of our program and then the opportunity for our students.
To tailor and customize their own specific needs within these goals.
Through the election of electives.
That can combine with the caucuses, which usually we have 36 credit caucuses and additional 6 credits electives to meet these goals that we are looking for. Goal number one is to produce graduates who can articulate and connect economic, political, regulatory, legal, technological and the social contest of healthcare organizations in a global society, including their own or their professional rules in and.
Responsible responsibilities in social health contests.
Two, to produce graduates who can implement social responsibility strategies, including sustainability diversity.
Ethical behavior, strategies and the approaches to healthcare management.
Of course you can understand that one of the.
United Nations sustainability or sustainability goals is to improve the quality of healthcare in countries all over the world. So starting has made an intentional decision to include this as a part of the goal of our program to equip our students to be able to administer and develop strategy.
For sustainability and diversity in health care.
To produce graduates who can utilize financial theories, analysis and reports in the markets.
All over the world, the cost of health care is in constant rise and what we try to do is to make sure that we balance the interest of stakeholders.
People who invest.
Pharmaceutical industries, people who invest in hospitals, urgent care, nursing homes that we are able to deliver return on their investments. That is why when you come into our program, we guarantee 6 to 9 credits courses that can equip you with the knowledge of financial theories and the financial principles that you can apply in your practices on graduation.
To produce graduates who can articulate and connect systems and the processes in healthcare organizations, including planning and design, production operations, supply chain management, which I mentioned earlier, that has become very, very important, particularly as a result of the pandemic.
Marketing skills, quality assurance skills and every other thing that is involved in operation management.
Another goal is to produce graduates who can characterize and accommodate groups and individual behaviors, including leading, collaborating and coordinating in healthcare organizations and societies. This is where our public health policies public health.
Procedures, Public health.
Ethics and regulations come in and that is why we make sure that.
Before you graduate in our program, you will take a course in rural health or public health.
Six to produce graduates who can implement evidence based decision making. And there.
A mandatory course, three credit course you will take on evidence based decision making and because that is where.
Effectiveness and efficiency of management comes in.
And of course, the last but not the least, to produce graduates who can communicate effectively.
In healthcare environments.
Most of the 36 credit mandatory credits are rated here as W courses, which means there is a strong writing component in these courses.
As you can see from one of our endorses, Laura, who is now retired and previously was.
ACEO and one of the collaborating insurance companies that work with them, starting university.
She made a clear statement.
About our program, he said NDA program delivers project based courses that match theory with practice and it loses evidence based teaching techniques.
To create engaging learning environments. And then we have a lot of graduates that then work with this healthcare organization and we still have students that are coming directly from that particular company, the Atlantic Healthcare. Next slide.
Curriculum. Like I mentioned earlier, our curriculum is composed of 14 classes at three credit an hour per cost totaling a total of 4042 credits and it's splitted between 36 courses, 36 credit caucuses, which is 12 classes and then two additional courses, 6 ladies that I electives that can be selected from either our general MBA program.
Or our own electives. Or you might do them as internship or self study programs.
And prerequisites for our program will include, of course, statistics. We expect our students to have basic knowledge of statistics to be able to navigate through our actuarial sciences.
We expect our students to come in with a basic knowledge of management in undergraduate, any business or management course. We expect our students to have a basic knowledge of economics, whether it's micro or micro, and a basic knowledge of finance or a combination of this.
But these prerequisites should not prevent you from applying into the program. We evaluate the situation of every every applicant on one-on-one situations, and we can find equivalence in order to consider you for admission into our program.
Next slide please.
And this is what we call a degree map. The way is spread out, like the courses you're supposed to take in fall or spring or summer semesters.
But now because of our open enrollment.
Opportunity program.
Our students have the opportunity to enlist.
Any available courses, running courses in the particular semester that they want to start their program with extension of the capstone course which is Amahall 5055 that is will always recommend that cost to be taken after you've completed at least 24 to 28 credits from our program. Next slide.
Our electives can be taken from.
The general MBA program on approval of the director of the program and that can vary from marketing, management, finance, accounting or blue, including the other courses that we've listed below.
Like forensic pathology, drug crime, and the criminal justice organizational psychology fundamentals and the theories of imaging of Emergency Management, which I recommend.
Crime, 5509.
Next.
Graduate student services available. Some of the things that make starting university and our program very interesting is that you are not just locked in with academics, we give you the opportunity to develop intellectually and culturally.
We have women, gender and sexuality center. We have our multicultural center and this is of great interest for both international students and our domestic students. We have Office of the Military and the Veterans Services.
We have health services, counseling services, writing tutors and the tutor centers, Graduate students council which involved in the dual governance and we have a housing gym. Student organizations and the dining opportunities are valuable not only in the Atlantic City campus where the MBA program is housed, but also in the main campus and other learning satellites centres of Stockton University.
Next one.
Next light.
Thank you.
OK, with this I will invite.
Director of admission to.
Give us some explanations on how to apply and then I will take questions after this.
Thank you so, so much. It was a great overview of the highlights of the program and the curriculum involved. So you have an idea of what you might be learning in the classroom. And so the next step is to decide is applying for this program right for you. And as was discussed in one of the earlier slides, you have the opportunity to apply in the spring or in the fall. But let's talk about what that application process actually looks like. So first, you know how do you apply? So you would go to our website. So the website link is located there. You can go to the Stockton website and just type in graduate. That's another way to find it.

Hi
Create your account. You'll start your online application. There is an application fee of $50.00 for that application. We also have supplemental requirements with full review in just a moment.
And that and some of those include letters of recommendation, transcripts, and then you also have the ability to check the status of your application as you're going through that process. So let's talk a little bit further about what that looks like.
We'll talk through the admission requirements and then how you would load some of these materials.
Nanda .
11:25:47 AM
Hello what is the average salary after graduation
First, you need to have a completed bachelors degree, and it can be in any field. And as we talked about, there are some prerequisites for this program, and there are ways to obtain those prerequisites, and there's also opportunities to look at whether or not courses you've previously taken fill those prerequisites. We'd be happy to work on that with you. You must have a 3.0 undergraduate GPA that is highly recommended, and you're going to need 3 recommenders. And the way the recommendations work is that you will only be submitting your e-mail address and their name. But we we really want you to go reach out to them ahead of time, let them know you're going to be submitting their emails.
Because as soon as you put it in there, they're going to get something automated sent to them to complete that recommendation electronically. You'll also be submitting a copy of your resume in a PDF format and an essay. The essay will not prompt until that application fee has been put in, so please make sure that you do that as part of your process. Now going back and also talking about the transcripts which you mentioned in the previous slide, those have to be sent to us from the school you attended. You're not able to load those yourself. You the instructions on how to do so and how they can be sent to us are on our website. We highly recommend using the electronic.
Umm having them sent to us electronically sent to grad school at stockton.edu. That comes to us, you know very quickly and in a in the easiest format instead of having them sent by regular mail. Now if you're an international applicant, you will have a couple other processes that you'll have to do as part of this too. We will actually need for most international applicants and this can be found on our website. There's a specific checklist for you too, but we will need your W transcripts or ECE or SPAN transcripts sent to us. So these are external evaluators, Wes, ECE and SPAN Tran that will evaluate your transcript and they will send them to us directly for review.
There are a couple other components that you may need an English proficiency exam and all of that too, depending on the country of your origin.
The next thing that we want to share with you all is that if you are a Stockton student and you qualify, the qualifications are listed here minimum 3.5 GPA, have graduated within the last year and that you have the appropriate courses, you can do a direct entry application. This is a much shorter application and this application can be done right from our website as well, but it eliminates the application fee. It allows you to not have to submit any letters of recommendation. You're simply going to be doing the essay. We load the transcript for you and so it's a really short and easy process. So it's a real benefit if you do fall under this category. So you'll want to search for direct entry on our website and you would be doing a separate application there.
Lastly, I wanted to share with you that we also have some discounts available if you happen to be a full time employee.
Establishments you will want to check with both your HR department. Sometimes they offer additional discounts and then also when you go to.
When you get admitted to Stockton and two year Bill, there's a process in place for us to offer an additional discount if you work with.

Microphone is not working.
Atlanticare and.
So with that all being said, we want to take this time now to open up the floor to those of you joining us live to utilize the chat and to ask any questions that you may have. So please feel free to put those questions in the chat.
Our contact information is here as well. So after you, if you're watching this virtually, this is a great time to talk on this information on how to reach to us utilizing our e-mail address, our phone number.
And we're even just stopping by the office we're located in Ed 007, which is down.
Where?
D.A. Khullar
11:29:39 AM
Could you please repeat the previous slide?
So with that, I'm going to look and see if we have any questions in the chat, someone was just asking if we could repeat the previous slide. I'm assuming you mean the healthcare partner discount side, So Virtual Health, Hackensack, Meridian, Atlanta, Atlanta Care and Community Medical Centers and these are also listed on our site as well. If you go to the Bursar's website, you can see these these establishments listed there.
Again, our phone number, e-mail, our website and location.
Christian, is there anything else you want to add as we kind of close out and give some folks an opportunity to to put some additional questions in the chat?
Well, for those of them online.
My contacts information is available on our website.
I do offer one-on-one zoom conversations or interviews with candidates that may wish to do that.
Send me, send me an e-mail and we agree on the time and I can offer that an opportunity for further conversations.

Yes, and admissions does the same. We do Calendly appointments, so please feel free to reach out. I'm also going to drop the e-mail or excuse me the website into the chat there for everyone to see. That's the official website. Some additional material that you might find helpful on that site is financial information. We talked about the number of credits for this program being 42. The cost is per credit. So that can change from year to year each September. Our Board of Trustees votes in July for our September and.
For fall in our spring rates, so you'll want to check back depending on which semester you're planning on attending, but the financial information is on the link that I posted there in the chat and I'll give you an overview. There's also information on how to apply or the requirements for the GA position, the Graduate assistantship, which can also help with your finances, and then the application for that is part of your actual application that you complete for the university.

11:31:39 AM
Who do we contact at Stockton, if we're a Atlanticare employee?
So with that, I don't see any additional questions popping up in the chat. Oh, here we go.
D.A. Khullar
11:32:07 AM
Do I need to graduate prior to applying? I plan to graduate from undergraduate school in the spring, and plan to start the MBA HAL Program next fall.
Great question. Who do we contact at Stockton if we are an Atlanta Care employee? So there's two things that you would want to do, #1, you're going to want once you've been admitted, you will want to reach out to Atlantic Care HR because there are some procedures there. Then the second part of it is also reaching out to the Bursar's office once you've registered for courses or even you can do it right before you register. So it's in place. There's specific paperwork that the Bursar's office would need proof of employment and so you would work with both with HR and the Bursar's office to complete that.
Umm, so that's a great question.
Aminah Blake-Jones
11:32:19 AM
I've been admitted for fall
Next question is, do I need to graduate prior to applying? That's also a really good question.
Someone who is if you are currently planning to graduate. So for example, if you're graduating in May, you can go ahead and apply now for the fall so you don't have to have those courses completed. We'll just need to know that they are in progress. You can note that on your application, and then we'll just need a completed transcript from you once you do graduate. So you'll send us an official transcript for what you've got completed now.
And then an additional transcript for once you've completed the degree. So we'll need both transcripts sent. You're not able to start classes or do anything until that degree is conferred, but you absolutely can apply. And again, for example, if you are finished in the spring, then you would you can apply now for the fall. So great question.
Great. It looks like we already have someone here who has been admitted. Great. We're looking forward to having you. You'll also receive orientation information for the fall next semester. We'll send that out to you. We'll have an opportunity for you to come in person and to chat with faculty, register for classes. We'll help you with advising. So it's a really great process. But if you're admitted for the fall, we'll send you that orientation sometime next semester and then you'll be coming to join us at the end of the semester or early summer.
Great questions, Christian, Anything else you think we missed?
Applying from international different countries, please, please do not hesitate to be in touch directly with me so that we make sure that you get all the information from our global engagement office with regard to your I 1:20 and then visa processes, anything that we.
Should actually help with that too. We're going to be starting to do some of that processes through our office here in admissions. So it's a new thing that's coming our coming down the path, but we can help with that as well. Yep, absolutely. But yes, as Christian mentioned, it is a detailed process. So let us assist you through that to make sure you have everything you need in between all of us. We can, we can do that. So that's a a great point. I appreciate that.
Thank.
Aminah Blake-Jones
11:34:51 AM
Thank you
Thank you.

And Doctor Ibuchi, thank you for taking the time to share your wealth of knowledge about the program. And we look forward to seeing you all at future events and to see you here here at campus and in our MBA Healthcare Administration program. All right, Have a wonderful day, everyone. Take care.
